BMW's X4 SAC had been enjoying a fairly quiet reign as the smallest of the brand's available Sports Activity Coupes--driven by shoppers who were looking for something a little different, always ready to surprise and delight anyone it passed.

With the landing of the new BMW X2 just recently, this model's new position as "middle child" meant it was time to step it up. The all-new 2019 BMW X4 will be landing soon at BMW of Kansas City South, and it brings with it a lot of new updates.

Not sure if the BMW X4 is right for your Kansas City lifestyle? Be sure to watch the video above. As Edmunds senior writer Carlos Lago says: It's not for everybody--but that's the point.

Longer, Wider, and Lighter

Some of the biggest updates to the BMW X4 are in its body: it lost about 100 pounds over its previous model, and its new, more aerodynamic design means that it’s a little more efficient. The new 2019 X4 is based on the same platform that the all-new 2018 BMW X3 brought in, which gives the new BMW X4 a lower center of gravity and a wider stance.

The difference in size from 2018 to 2019 means that the new BMW X4 will offer slightly more cargo space and more leg room than the first-gen model. The second-generation model also ushers in more standard features, like navigation and a massive infotainment touchscreen, and standard xDrive all-wheel drive on all trims.
