2019 BMW 5 SERIES IN KANSAS CITY

The Recently-Redesigned 2019 BMW 5 Series Luxury Sedan Continues to Set the Benchmark for Excellence

If you prefer additional legroom, top-of-the-line amenities, and premium technology in your luxury sports sedan, BMW's new 2019 5 Series should be at the top of your shopping list. Available in four-door sedan style (the Gran Turismo body style was discontinued after 2018 MY) and five trim levels--with a variety of engine and performance options--the newest 5 Series is fresh off a major redesign, and ready to continue dominating the field. The new 2019 BMW 5 Series luxury sedan delivers an exceptional automotive experience, whether you're behind the wheel as the driver or riding along as a pampered passenger. The seventh-generation BMW 5 Series seems to be trimming down its configuration options, but shifting a focus to quality over quantity. For 2019, trim levels include the BMW 530i, 530e iPerformance, 540i, and M550i.

Midsize Cabin but Full-Size Comfort

A cabin richly decked with premium options and tons of standard features--like leather heated seats, handcrafted accents, and a gorgeous open-air sunroof--rounds out this popular option nicely. Whether you plan to rely on your new 2019 BMW 5 Series for your daily commute from Overland Park or Olathe to downtown Kansas City, or for longer road-trips east to St. Louis, or even out west to Colorado, the new 5 Series will always get you there in style and comfort. In fact, the 5 Series is such a pleasure to drive, you may even find yourself hunting for the long way home.

Exterior Styling

Maybe to the surprise of some, BMW quietly discontinued the hatch-backed Gran Turismo body style that had been a staple for years. With that roomier, saloon-esque configuration gone, BMW can focus entirely on the 2019 5 Series sedan: every curve, line, and angle.

BMW 5 Series Performance

All new 5 Series models are available with either standard rear-wheel drive or BMW's xDrive All-Wheel-Drive system. The 2019 530i is powered by a very capable, yet relatively unassuming, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder good for 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The BMW 530e iPerformance pairs a 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder to a 111-horsepower electric motor and a high-voltage lithium-ion battery, for a total combined output of 248 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of low-end torque. Fuel-economy ratings for the 2019 BMW 530e are impressive, at up to 117 mpg-e and 28 miles of pure electric range. The BMW 540i significantly ups the ante for performance: the standard 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 delivers a notable improvement, up to 335 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. BMW says that its 2019 540i model will vault from 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. The BMW M550i xDrive features a robust 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that pumps out 445 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque, and rockets from 0-60 mph in a breath-taking 3.9 seconds.

Tech and Safety Features

The 2019 5 Series offers the brand's updated iDrive infotainment system, displayed on a large, user-friendly 10.2-inch touchscreen, set within easy reach. The system can also be controlled by voice, or by convenient toggles and buttons right on the steering wheel, if you don't have a free hand. Safety and advanced driver-assistance features, including Park Distance Control and a Rear-View Camera, can be added via package options.
